Tangy Tomatilloes are a favourite in Mexican
cooking. They are delicious raw or grilled and essential in authentic
salsas. Grow and feed like tomatoes, (plants will need support). The
fruits are surrounded by a papery lantern like skin. Best grown
undercover to crop August/September
This is similar to the Cape gooseberry, but the fruits are larger,
completely filling and splitting the calyx when ripe. it is a very
popular vegetable in Mexican cookery, where it is used in place of
tomatoes to make an exellent sharp sauce for grilled meat.
