Introduced in the 1880s and still going strong on the show bench and in
the kitchen. The long, thick, delicious shanks are very cold hardy,

Musselburgh - A
very hardy and exceptionally fine strain . Hardy, heavy cropping and
delicious. A traditional ingredient in soups and stews or as a boiled
vegetable, but also try thinly sliced in stir-fries. High in potassium,
folic acid and vitamin A and C. Musselburgh is a proven performer and
still takes some beating as a winter leek. With their compact, bolt
upright growth, leeks are the ideal crop to squeeze into bare patches
